Giant Blob Of Floating Off Arctic Coast Identified as Marine Algae (VIDEO)

Mystery solved. The black goo that was spotted floating between Barrow and Wainwright last week, has been tested and identified by the Department of Environmental Conservation in Fairbanks as marine algae. The goo fast became an Alaska mystery. The new findings still leave lingering questions such as why is there so much of it in a region where people have said they have never seen anything quite like it?

The Coast Guard labeled the substance biological, but knew little else. A borough official said that the stuff had hairy strands in it and was tangled with jellyfish. said a borough official.
